Shinola used to supply shoe polish and thus the expression "You don't know shit from Shinola" was born. The expression describes someone who is unable to differentiate between useful (Shinola) and useless (shit). More recently Shinola has been reborn as a boutique brand selling fancy watches, bicycles and leather goods. They also have decent cafe too.
