Holland Speedway

Free tickets were being dished out at the local gas station. An evening of circle track racing ensued.

Niagara Wine Trail Wine & Culinary Festival

Held at Lewiston, near Buffalo the festival was a showcase for local wine. A pinot gris for $10 - sure!

Personal bias aside (nearly), the star attraction was of course Chateau Niagara.

Pushing a Dragcar to the Start

Drag Fans

Warming Up a Dragbike Tyre

If the tyre grabs there will be trouble.

Triumph Daytona Dragbike

Initially, this looks much like an ordinary Triumph Daytona 675. However, this bike has been very heavily modified. The engine is blown, the swingarm is now a week long and the fairing had to be widened to fit all the new equipment. Also note the air intake at the bottom.

East Aurora Art Fair

Church Sale

A selection of cheap bric a brak was for sale in a church parking lot. A helpful reminder was posted to discourage theft.

Niagara River Electricity

Niagara River

This really doesn't look like a good spot for a swim.

Delicious Donuts

These doughnuts are traditional and made using a cake mix that is deep fried and then coated in sugar. One was purchased, kept in a top box for a couple of hours and eaten. In practise the doughnut tasted much like any other and was still a long way from health food.

Mirror Lake Nearing Dusk

Folk are taking their places for the 4th of July firework show.

Whiteface Mountain Carpark Climb

The climb follows the ridge.

The steps are punctuated with light bouldering. Once it was confirmed that the railings were well fixed and suitably shod it was possible to have some fun leaping around. The folk in flipflops had less fun as they cautiously slid to the bottom.

Motorcycling In the Adirondacks

The road from Lake Placid to Wilmington is superb. Note the dude at front with "ape hangers".

Live Blues

John "Mad Dog" Marino sings the blues with some good slide guitar work. Catch him live in Lake Placid.

Happy Angler

Two large lake trout, circa 20lbs caught in Lake Placid.

Versys 650 on Whiteface Mountain

Overall the Versys 650 works very well. By comparison the 2013 DL650 is smoother in most areas. However, the Versys is more than adequate and, it could be argued, has character.

Gift or Ammo?

Some very early Christmas and birthday present shopping was completed whilst in Lake Placid at a charming store, Tradewind. The important question to answer now is "Did you get a gift or ammo?"
It might also help to know that ammo was keenly priced.

The Adirondack Park

A stunning US national park. This is a view from the top of Whiteface Mountain.

Cop on a Segway

The Segway allows for less walking and more looking serious.

East Aurora 4th July Parade

The vehicles in the parade launch small pieces of hard candy for the kids to collect.

Special Polish

Sometimes "don't worry it'll polish out" offers a positive view of whatever now needs fixing. There are special occasions though when it really won't just polish out. This product may or may not help.
Wondering what was in the tin? Thankfully, it looked very much like neutral shoe polish.
